Letter - About the book - Beetle Boy

Image
Written as a letter: Dear BigDida👵,                        I hope everything is fine with you! 😀 🙏 I'm just emailing to tell you the new things I've learnt about beetles with my new book called "Beetle boy".🐜 It's a really cool book, and I'm really liking it so far. Anyways, I need to tell you before I tell you anything else about beetles, their latin name is Coleoptera. Also, I've learnt that beetles can turn wood into sawdust!😯 That's really cool, right! Unfortunately, beetles don't have a long life, unlike us.🙁 Also, one species of dung beetle can pull a weight a thousand times heavier than its own body weight! 😮 That's like pulling six buses, on your own!!!! I'm still reading the book, and I'll send another email when I get to know more facts. Stay safe, and Bye Bye.🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓

Diary Entry - My British Museum Experience

Image
Yesterday, I went to the British Museum. I went with my dad. It took a good lot of time, but we finally reached. Our bags were checked, and we went inside. I chose to go to the Africa gallery first, as it would be good to go somewhere different. I saw huge and weird masks that Africans wear. Some had long winding tusks and others had long chins or beards. I also saw a tree all made from cut guns. After that, we saw some North American culture. I saw fur coats and lots of other stuff to survive the cold. Then we saw a bit of Aztec culture. I was astonished to see that the Aztecs would smash glass to tiny pieces and join them together to make sculptures. I liked the two- headed serpent the most. While roaming around, we became as hungry as wolves, so we sat down to eat. I had sandwiches, and my dad ate roti.  We went to the ‘Living and Dying’ section where we saw a hands-on thing. We saw how gold was traded using weights some 500 years ago. We did some shopping after that. I brought ...

Diary Entry - Sound Walk

Image
Dear Diary,  I went in the garden to hear the sounds today. I heard three sounds. The first sound I heard was the unmistakable honking of cars on the main road behind the Longford river, off the boundary wall. The next thing I heard was the chattering of my neighbours in their own garden. The last thing I heard was the tweeting birds. “Tweet” they went “tweet!” I liked the birds the most. My neighbours were a bit annoying but the buses and cars out on the road were causing noise pollution. I hate noise pollution.  Though I didn’t like all the birds. The crows were ANNOYING! “Caw” they went “caw!” My neighbours seemed to be talking about something exciting. I’m not sure what they were talking about though. They probably were talking about some friends coming to their house as I heard some greetings from their house a short time after they had spoken. The buses were the least annoying, even though there were’nt many of them. Well, I won’t say it’s annoying, but I’ll say it’s doi...

Fact File - Burrowing Badgers!

Image
An introduction to badgers Badgers are furry, burrowing creatures. They have huge underground networks of tunnels, one network for each family. These are called territories.  A territory is very big. They can stretch to 1000 metres long and 500 metres wide. You can understand that badgers have huge homes! There territories are split into a few sections. They are: the main sett and the smaller setts.   The main sett In the main sett, the badgers breed. A group of their babies are called a litter. They stay here for most of their lives and the main sett has a bigger entrance than the other smaller setts. Even on the inside, the main sett is the largest of all the setts. That is why it is called the main sett   The smaller setts The smaller setts are quite useful to badgers. They have two uses. Badgers stay here in Summer and Autumn. This the time when food sources are high. They may get some food, then nip in here and have a nap. Another way badgers use the sm...

Story - The quest for the Magic gold!!!!

In the land of Anitgartal, there were no humans at all. Instead, there were animals. Talking animals! They could speak like humans, but only knew one language – English. There were a few white bears (Mr. Whiteby, Mrs. Whiteby, Lil Whiteby and Lol Whiteby), there was a hedgehog family (Mr. Prickle, Mrs. Prickle, Prook Prickle and Preek prickle), there was a mouse family (Mr. Squeak, Mrs. Squeak, Sooky Squeak and Seegy Squeak) and of course, there was the chief elephant! So, you can understand, this was a very small city. There were only 13 animals living here.  One sunny morning, in Anitgartal, Mrs. Prickle was hanging her clothes on the Prickle family’s washing line, when she saw something very out of the ordinary. She knew there was something wrong with the clouds, and then she realized that the outlines of the clouds were faintly pulsing – golden, faint golden, golden, faint golden and so on. It was early in the morning, and the clouds shouldn’t have been glowing like that. She c...
