Book Review - Wonder

Author: R.J Palacio

Genre: Kids to adults

Main characters: Auggie (August Pullman), Jack, Summer, Via, Mr. Tushman

Recommended: Children to adults

Auggie is a boy who is fighting for a normal life. This book describes the ups and downs of his life. He has been homeschooled by his protective parents. They say that now is the time for Auggie to go to school. Auggie says no, but his parents say to at least have a tour and meet the headmaster at least. Auggie says yes. He finds out that school isn’t too bad.

When Auggie first goes to school, Mr. Tushman greets him in normally, unlike others. After the tour, he thinks that school isn’t so bad. On his firs day, he has no friends, but eventually, he makes friends and becomes the most popular and celebrated boy in his grade.

Why I liked this book:

I liked this book extremely emotional. Also, the way R.J Palacio writes the book is very clear. This book has a purpose too. It is: never judge a person by his/her appearance. We should all follow this rule. This book also teaches the reader that we should all rise above bullying.

My favourite quote from the book:

When you have the choice to be right or kind, CHOOSE KIND.

Other books in this series:
