Summary:
George and Anne are in the stables, alone,
at Captain Johnson’s riding school. They get a letter saying that the boys –
Julian and Dick – Were coming too! But then, Mrs. Johnson has the boys coming and
some other children too. Mrs. Johnson says that there will be too many
children. So, Dick has an idea. Why won’t the five – Julian, him, Anne, George
and Timmy the dog – go camping on the moor called “Mystery Moor”? So, the five
go camping on the moor. Then their adventure really begins!
The five find out a pair of mysterious
railway lines, and a quarry. Not far along the railway lines is a train engine,
almost fully buried. They camp out in the quarry, but the travellers find them.
One day, a mysterious plane circles about, right on top of where the travellers
were camping, in the middle of the night. The next day, the same thing happens,
but the planes drop dozens of packets this time. The five investigate, and in
each packet, there are scores and scores of paper 100-dollar notes!!!! Julian
thinks that they should hide it in the engine funnel of the almost-fully-buried
engine not far up the tracks. The girls
were left to wait with Timmy on the rails. Unfortunately, a really, really,
thick mist had descended. It was so thick that the boys safely hid the
packets but lost their way back! They tried to find the rails, but they just
couldn’t! They finally were tired out and returned to the shelter of a bush.
Meanwhile, George, Anne and Timmy have a peculiar time too. They waited and
waited, but the boys didn’t come back, off course. Then they decided to go back
to the stables, but instead, the go all the way up the tracks and find
themselves in the quarry! The travellers Capture them and they are made prisoners!
Luckily, Sniffer, their friend camping with the travellers, comes to their
rescue! They escape and go back to the stables. In the morning, the boys wake
up, and at last, luck favoured them! They found the rails and went back home.
The five call the police, and they deal with the packets.
Why I liked this book:
I liked this book because I like the books
that create suspense. Suspense is great in all adventure, and this is an
adventure book too. I also like the way Enid Blyton words the book. It is very
interesting.
