Summary:
Alfie is a boy with rotten teeth. This is because he had a terrible
incident with the dentist. After that, Alfie would NEVER go to the dentist
again. Dad is wheelchair bound. Then, a new dentist comes. She gives everyone
in Alfie’s school sweets! She also gave them toothpaste which burnt
through concrete! So when the children came back, they all had toothaches! But
Alfie was clever enough to check that the toothpaste was ok or not.
The next day, Gabz, his friend, said that children were putting a
tooth under their pillows for the tooth fairy, and find something unspeakably
gruesome under their pillow in the morning. It may be a dead slug, a live
spider, a wasp’s nest, cat poo, a dirty old verruca sock, a dead adder, a giant
scab, flying ant’s eggs, a bat’s wing, a badger’s paw, a snail with it’s shell
pulled off, hundreds of centipedes or a filthy plaster sodden with pus. Evil
was at work. But who was behind it? Read the book to find out!
Why I liked this book:
I like this book because it was extremely funny. Funny books are
good. Also, David Walliams can describe things in very interesting ways. He
sometimes makes up words like “Custardy”, “Bum-Clenchingly”, “heart-stoppingly”
and “Eye-wateringly”. These also help make funny books.
This book is really good, and I know you’ll like it too!
